  • You need to show how people's lives are positively changed by your business, but you don't know how to do that.
  • You don't know how to continually gain feedback from those you are seeking to help, and sometimes worry that you may actually be harming them.
  • You want to be financially viable but still have a positive social impact.

You are dedicated to solving an important problem. Social Impact Compass can help you.

My passion for working toward positive social change began at an early age when I read a book called “Tears of Triumph.” The stories of people living in deep poverty in Calcutta, India were unimaginable to me. The book lit a fire within me, and since that day I've been working toward social change and helping others to work toward social change.

My dream as a child was to become a concert pianist, yet over time I realized I wanted to devote my life to making the world a better place in a different way. After I graduated from college I went to live in Australia and traveled to Thailand, all with the intention of developing relationships with people from other cultures to deepen my own understanding of global injustice, and to serve people facing injustice.

While in Thailand I realized the social entrepreneurs I was working with had huge goals and dreams, but did not have the strategies to reach them. They also didn’t have a way to know what kind of positive or negative impact they were having.

This gave me the seed of the idea that I have now brought to life in Social Impact Compass. So many people dedicated to solving big social problems of our time are doing the best they can, but are not sure if their work is leading to the impact they’re seeking.

The mission of Social Impact Compass is to help socially-minded business leaders to identify  more clearly where they want to go, and support them as they make a path to that goal. By helping businesses put in place processes and systems to understand the needs and hopes of those they seek to serve, develop practical reflective practices to identify what's working and what's not, and create actionable measurement strategies, social enterprises gain a deeper understanding of the problem they are solving and the solutions that will address that problem.
