This gets to be easy

We are now officially halfway through the year and it has me coming back to my 2023 New Year´s resolution. Or, more accurately, my New Year´s concept. Because instead of a resolution this year, back in January I decided to keep it simple and infuse my year with a single word.

That word is ease. (Just writing this I feel the delicious, long exhale the word brings.)

This is so important for me because we work on urgent issues. Whether you are ensuring food security in Sub-Saharan Africa, doubling the number of high schooler graduates in rural Guatemala who go on to university, or catalyzing inclusive healthcare models across Bangladesh, our work cuts to the core of our personal values. And we know that for every $1 raised, someone´s life will be better.

So ease has become a touchstone for how I want to make the world a better place AND be a happy human. The mantra “This gets to be easy” lives on a sticky note next to my computer.

The 3 biggest ways I bring ease into my life are:

1. Having powerful systems and mentors that support me

2. Giving myself the grace to change my own boundaries when I am really feeling the flow AND when I am feeling tired

3. Taking vacation rather than trying to work remotely in the midst of travels (this one took me a bit to learn... and I was particularly grateful for it last month when we moved from Guatemala, went to a good friend´s wedding in California and then took advantage of being on the west coast to see family and friends)

As you crank up your grants work to make sure you hit your annual goals, how will do this with ease?

Hit me up on LinkedIn and let me know, I would love to hear!

And remember: this gets to be easy.
